TRACE colours in your city as you walk it. Every street you cover fills in, from grey to green to gold. How much of your city have you really seen?
How it works
Go for a walk. Your map remembers.
Slide to start
Start a walk from the map. TRACE records your route, even with the phone in your pocket and the screen locked.
Streets fill in
Every street you walk along turns green, bit by bit. Crossing a street at a junction doesn’t count. Walking along it does.
Finish them in gold
Walk a street from end to end and it turns gold. Then the neighbourhood. Then the whole city.
Streets are measured every 8 m. A stretch counts when your route runs along it within 25 m, and a street is completed at 90%, because GPS rarely reaches the very ends. Street data © OpenStreetMap contributors.

Your walk on the Lock Screen
Time, distance, steps and new streets stay on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island while you walk. No need to unlock your phone.
Streaks
Any walk counts for the day. Keep the flame going and watch the week fill up.
Badges
Eight badges that level up from Bronze to Diamond, and twelve secret ones you only see once you’ve earned them.
Smart routes
Pick a goal (a distance, a number of steps or a number of new streets) and TRACE plans a loop through streets you haven’t walked yet.
Friends & high fives
Follow friends with a QR code or their username, see their walks in your feed and send a high five. They see your numbers, never your routes.

Where you walk says a lot about you, so TRACE is built to share as little as possible.

Which cities does TRACE work in?
Any city with streets on OpenStreetMap, which is nearly everywhere. TRACE downloads a city’s streets the first time you walk there, and after that it works offline.
Does it drain my battery?
TRACE only uses GPS while a walk is recording. Between walks it doesn’t track you at all.
Do I need an account?
No. You can record walks without signing in. Sign in with Apple when you want a backup, friends, high fives and a profile.
Can my friends see where I walked?
No. Friends see the numbers of a walk (distance, time, steps, new streets) but never the route. You can also mark any walk private, or stop sharing walks altogether in Settings.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet. TRACE is iPhone-only for now.
